Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior political figure stated the attack made him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
